JOB SUMMARY: The Project Designer for Ryan Hughes Design Build is responsible for assigned projects from initial client interview through project completion. The primary focus of this role is to provide exemplary design services to all assigned clients and internal team members throughout the conceptual design, permitting, construction and closeout process. Project Designers will partner with internal and external resources for the timely execution of all assignments.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide exemplary designs for Outdoor Living projects consistent with the Ryan Hughes Design principles
- Complete Client Interview and Site Analysis along with the Business Development Manager to define project goals consistent with Client’s budget
- Complete Due Diligence activities to develop site constraints prior to beginning Conceptual Design
- Develop Conceptual Design in AutoCAD, prepare a Site Plan, Material Recommendations and 3D Presentation Video for review by Creative Director and Director of Design prior to Client Presentation
- Lead presentation and sale of Conceptual Design to Client along with the Business Development Manager
- Preform quantity and material takeoffs for use by Estimating to prepare a Design-Build proposal
- Revise Conceptual Design and propose Value Engineering alternatives to original design as required by Client feedback
- Research and prepare required permit applications for execution by Client during proposal presentation
- Present proposal to Client along with Business Development Manager, advocating for the value of the design and its ability to create a better lifestyle through innovative outdoor living
- Prepare and lead Material Selection Meeting with Client consistent with established budgetary constraints associated with Design-Build Agreement, include Furniture Designers as necessary
- Participate in Project Turnover Meeting to introduce Project Manager to Client and project to ensure an efficient and effective transition from Conceptual Design to Project Execution
- Prepare permit and construction documents consistent with Conceptual Design, Budget and Ryan Hughes Design principles
- Complete site visits at specific project milestones to ensure that the design vision is properly executed by Construction Department
- Provide additional design as necessary to propose additional scope items to Client
- Partner with Project Manager to ensure timely and relevant Client communication
- Participate in project reveal planning, preparation and execution for the successful project completion
- Utilize Procore to its fullest extent to complete project tasks

QUALIFICATIONS:
A) Language/Communication Skills
- Must possess excellent communication skills including oral, written and listening. These skills may be used when communicating with clients, coordinating projects, resolving conflict, attending meetings, training, developing relationships with clients, or presenting information.
B) Knowledge and skills required
- Ability to create a conceptual design within researched site/building constraints
- Reasoning skills must be well developed to objectively assist with issues and to present results accurately, effectively and in a timely manner
- Ability to be detail-oriented
- Demonstrate continuous performance improvement in targeted areas of responsibility in alignment with the overall company strategy

C) Education Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture, Landscape Architecture or Interior Design
D) Experience Required:
- One to five (5) years of design, client management and sales experience, preferably within high-end residential and/or commercial projects
E) Working Environment:
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize numerous tasks
- Continual computer usage is required for this position
- Travel to job sites or other relevant events
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Position requires routine lifting, bending, pushing, pulling while handling basic office supplies and material deliveries up to 50 lbs. The employee is required to reach with hand and arms and may sit for long periods of time. Tolerance to prolonged exposure to a computer monitor and keyboard utilization is required. May require use of own vehicle to attend off-site meetings and trainings or events.
