3D Modeler/Draftsman

About The Position

The Draftsman for Ryan Hughes Design Build (RHDB) is responsible for the creation of Presentation Videos utilizing different 3D software, documentation of existing residences and conceptual designs prepared by Project Designers; and the successful execution of assigned permitting and construction drawings. The Draftsman will partner with the Project Designers and Director of Design for timely completion of all assignments.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordinates daily with Project Designers and Director of Design regarding day-to-day modeling progress
  • Prepare presentation videos including pool, hardscape, landscape and structures from plans and specifications provided by the Design Team
  • Coordinates daily with Project Designers and Director of Design regarding day-to-day drawing progress
  • Prepare pool, hardscape, landscape and architectural drawings using AutoCAD that detail plans and specifications provided by the Design Team
  • Able to develop and complete details, sections and elevations suitable for submission with minimal supervision
  • Work as part of a collaborative team to balance workloads, and ensure drawings deliverables are produced on time
  • Assist in the filing and organizing of drawings and project’s folders
  • Able to expertly utilize Xrefs and Sheet Manager to complete assigned tasks
  • Perform quantity takeoffs for inclusion in plans and use by others
  • Respond to RFIs submitted by Project Managers and Construction Managers as needed

Qualifications

A) Language/Communication Skills

  • Must possess excellent communication skills including oral, written and listening. These skills may be used when communicating with clients, coordinating projects, resolving conflict, attending meetings, training, developing relationships with designers and vendors, or presenting information.

 

B) Knowledge and Skills Required

  • Skill in establishing and maintaining good working relationships with team members
  • Must have judgment to know when to appropriately escalate issues up the chain of command
  • Demonstrate continuous performance improvement in targeted areas of responsibility in alignment with the overall company strategy
  • Must be able to read and interpret conceptual design drawings
 

C) Education Required

  • Associate’s Degree in Drafting Technology preferred
 

D) Experience Required

  • At least three (3) years of drafting experience utilizing AutoCAD and 3D applications (VIP3D, Lumion, SketchUp.) in the construction industry, preferably within high-end residential and/or commercial projects
 

E) Working Environment

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize numerous tasks
  • Daily computer usage is required for this position

Physical Requirements

  • Position requires routing lifting, bending, pushing, pulling while handling basic office supplies and material deliveries up to 25 lbs. The employee is required to reach with hand and arms and may sit for long periods of time. Tolerance to prolonged exposure to a computer monitor and keyboard utilization is required. May require use of own vehicle to attend off-site meetings and trainings or events.
