Prism Vue

Descriptions

Pool and Hot Tub Alliance (PHTA) 2025 International Awards of Excellence Silver Winner, Silver Award 2025: Architectural Achievement

Prism Vue, a Ryan Hughes Design Signature project encompasses nearly 6,000 square feet of outdoor living area with show stopping elements at every angle. Located in Tampa, FL, Prism Vue was inspired by the homeowner’s desire for a one-of-a-kind — Florida contemporary meets California modern — space equipped to entertain family and friends in all seasons.

Ultra-modern as well as ultra-innovative, the Prism Vue pool was precisely designed and constructed to reside inside the home’s superstructure. Based on the size of the swimming pool and the proximity to the foundation and footers for the home’s overall structure — the pool had to be crafted before the house could be constructed. The Hughes team were tasked with building the pool with exacting accuracy so that once the surrounding home was ultimately built — everything aligned within fractions of an inch.

The ultimate indoor/outdoor living experience of Prism Vue was taken to an extreme level with its use of clean, sleek materials, also providing fresh tropical nuances throughout the massive protected spaces. The challenges for the team, beyond the precise positioning of the pool, also were addressed with a constant awareness and knowledge of performance requirements dictated by the harsh southern climate.

A nearly 2,000 square foot pool featuring over 3000-square-feet of Mosaicist’s all glass 1-inch by 1-inch translucent tiles was hand installed by artisans. Also included within the pool were acrylic viewing windows from Aquatic Glazing complementing sunken fire pit or spa features or dining or lounging areas. Each element was precisely positioned opposite the large windows of the yet-to-be-built home. A custom Ryan Hughes pergola with rain wall and an Ipe wood terrace provided a glamorous venue for a suspended Dedon daybed. The terrace’s tile step-down into the pool was one of numerous multi-level features built into the overall designer spaces. Other show stopping areas of the soon-to-be enclosed outdoor areas included a tiled outdoor kitchen, bar and dining area with state-of-the-art appliances, furnishings and entertaining lighting.

As with most Ryan Hughes Design projects, this project also involved additional exterior elements of the larger estate design and build. From the expertly configured and lit front yard, driveway, hardscape, and landscape, Prism Vue was designed for an exacting continuity with the pool area in materials, architectural style and functionality.
