A traditional pool reimagined with a modern twist, built for family and connected from end to end by water, describes the River Edge project by award winning outdoor living designer, Ryan Hughes Design. Comprising a remarkable 15,400 square feet of outdoor living space in Winter Park, River Edge is an expansive, multi-level environment where terraces, islands, and gathering spaces are linked by a continuous ribbon of water that invites guests to wander, float, and explore.
At the heart of the design is a 6,000-square-foot pool finished in Pebble Tech and detailed throughout with 1×1 inch glass tile handcrafted by Mosaicist. A raised spillover pool anchors one end with a vanishing edge and a deep glass-tiled facade, cascading down to a meandering lazy river that threads past planted islands, palm-shaded turf landings, and a series of bridges that knit the elevations together. A central gazebo tower rises above the water with a sweeping spiral staircase and a curving water slide that lands guests directly into the pool, while a splash pad, a sunken spa with perimeter overflow, and an acrylic viewing window bring an element of discovery to every turn.
Designed first and foremost for family, River Edge balances its fun factor with quiet retreats. A sunken fire pit and a fireplace create warmth for evening gatherings, in-pool loungers by Ledge Lounger line the shallow shelves, and Tuuci shade and a custom RHDB pergola define the lounging terraces. As day turns into night, outdoor illumination by PAL Lighting and FX Lighting transforms the space, with pool lighting, up lights, and smart exterior lighting highlighting the palms, water features, and surrounding landscape while providing a safe and inviting space to entertain. Designer surfaces flow from turf to porcelain pool deck pavers to pre-cast concrete, tying together one of the most ambitious plans Ryan Hughes Design has delivered.
